Corporate Lobbying Undermining Democracy

‘Corporate is a subset of Democracy.’ Can the corporate undermine democracy then, without ruining itself?

When we talk about democracy, does it mean only the individual people or does it also include the various processes and bodies needed for the healthy functioning of the society. To run a society efficiently, man has founded many a body. The management that runs these bodies are Corporates. While creating the many ‘social’ organizations, man has created infinite rules for these bodies to adhere to for their healthy functioning. Now, each organization has set their own goals  and objectives to pursue which is in the best interest of the society as well.

The man made rules may sometimes be a hurdle in the organization’s path. The corporate can either help the organization to jump over the hurdle, or it may come up with a solution which would break down this hurdle. When they try to negotiate a hurdle in their path, they are just trying to help themselves grow. They bend some rules and mend the others. All this is acceptable till it helps in the overall prosperity of the society.

When a corporate functions the way it should, it brings about healthy changes in the society. When an organization makes profit, it tries to get bigger to broaden up its horizon. They give more incentives to their employee and also hire more men. When the buying potential of the common man increases, we see a positive shift in the attitude of the local entrepreneurs, let alone the organized retail sector. When the local markets see profit, we can wholesomely conclude that the society has benefited.

It is because there is democracy, the corporates enjoy the policies of free trade with no barriers. The corporates know that just like the democracy of the state. So the corporates, therefore would never want to spoil their share of good will from the people of democracy and hence they would never undermine democracy. Democracy is there to protect the Corporate not to have a check on it.
